“Victory Is Assured” – Bello Names Kogi’s 2027 Pick

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is likely to receive strong backing from voters in Kogi State during the 2027 presidential election.

Bello spoke while addressing supporters in Kogi Central during a homecoming event organised to welcome him back to the state. The gathering attracted a large number of supporters and party members.

The former governor said the reception had further convinced him that the All Progressives Congress (APC) maintains a strong support base across Kogi State.

According to Bello, he had remained confident in the commitment of his supporters to both his political career and the APC. He said the turnout at the event demonstrated the level of support enjoyed by the party at the grassroots.

Bello also urged residents of Kogi to maintain their backing for Tinubu at the federal level and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at the state level.

He maintained that APC supporters understood the policies and programmes being implemented by the party’s administrations and would continue to support its candidates during future elections.

The former governor, who is contesting for the Kogi Central senatorial seat, also appealed to party members to vote for him and other APC candidates during the forthcoming elections.

Bello said the APC had continued to focus on infrastructure and other projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens. He argued that the party’s record in government had strengthened its relationship with voters.

Speaking about the crowd that welcomed him, the former governor described the gathering as a genuine expression of support from residents.

He rejected the suggestion that the large turnout was deliberately arranged through financial incentives, insisting that those who attended came out willingly to identify with him and the APC.

Bello expressed appreciation to God, President Tinubu, Governor Ododo and other party leaders and members for their support.

He said the event reflected the strength of the APC’s political network and its presence among communities across Kogi State.

The former governor subsequently assured Tinubu of his commitment to mobilising support for the President ahead of the 2027 election.

Bello stated that he was confident the APC would record victory in Kogi State, particularly in Kogi Central, during the forthcoming electoral contest.

His declaration comes as political parties continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. Both the ruling APC and opposition groups have been strengthening their structures while exploring different strategies for the upcoming polls.

Opposition parties have also been holding discussions on possible cooperation, with some groups considering ways of presenting a stronger challenge to the ruling party.

National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, recently spoke about the opposition’s preparations for the next election.

Baba-Ahmed said opposition groups, including parties associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), were working towards building a political platform capable of challenging the APC in 2027.

He disclosed that the PRP was developing its campaign plans and assessing the political situation ahead of the election.

The different positions from APC and opposition figures reflect the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties already working to strengthen their support bases and prepare for the electoral contest.
