In accordance with the Nigeria Visa Policy 2020, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has declared intentions to provide an easier-to-use e-visa application channel for brief trips.

In her speech at the 12th Command Course graduation ceremony of the Immigration Command and Staff College in Sokoto, Nandap made this statement.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO) Kenneth Udo said that Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) George Didel represented the CG.

According to the CG, the new channel was created to promote tourism, encourage foreign direct investments (FDIs), and expedite the visa application process.

She said: “We must embrace these reforms and implement effective internal control and monitoring mechanisms. This is to track the presence and activities of all foreigners in Nigeria”.

The CG reaffirmed her dedication to seeing the e-Border Project through to completion.

According to Nandap, this involved integrating the Advance Passenger Information System (API) and e-gate installation at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja.

She said: “As well as Passenger Name Record (PNR) to enhance border control and clearance systems. These centers are expected to significantly improve intelligence sharing and operational coordination to enhance National Security”.

Nandap asked for increased attendance at Security Council meetings and emphasized the need to revitalize NIS’s Divisional Offices.

She emphasized that this would be done with the highest professionalism and interagency cooperation at the State and Local Government levels, in addition to other ad hoc obligations.

Nandap directed formation leaders to put great effort into making sure that the automation of the passport application processes goes smoothly. The goal was to minimize human interaction, limit shrewd behavior, and increase productivity.

Up until the complete changeover is completed, she said, improved e-Passports would continue to be distributed both locally and at the overseas missions.

All NIS formations were urged by the CG to aggressively take part in the national awareness campaign against irregular migration, particularly the smuggling of migrants (SOM).

She did, however, reaffirm NIS’s dedication to developing the ability of all Service cadres, emphasizing the significance of involving partners and stakeholders in the maintenance of training and capacity-building initiatives.

She promised to enhance the welfare of NIS officers by providing health care plans, inexpensive housing, and prompt promotions.

Nandap exhorted the students to uphold the greatest standards of professionalism and to be change agents.

The “Passed Command Course” (PCC) award was the event’s high point, and each participant who managed personnel was given a “Dagger Merit Award (+)” in appreciation of their commitment and diligence.
