Christian Martin believes Galatasaray could have a formidable attacking combination on their hands if they complete a deal for Can Uzun.
The Turkish giants are keen to bring the Eintracht Frankfurt youngster to Istanbul as part of their plans for the coming season, although talks between the two clubs have yet to produce a final agreement.
Martin feels Uzun could take another step forward in his career at Galatasaray, especially with a striker like Victor Osimhen leading the attack.
According to the former coach, Uzun’s knack for finding pockets of space, spotting openings and playing the decisive pass could match perfectly with Osimhen’s direct style and ability to stretch defences.
He also believes Uzun could occupy defenders and create openings that would allow the Nigerian forward to make better use of his movement inside the box.
“If they play together, their different qualities could complement each other very well,” Martin said, according to Türkiye Gazetesi.
Galatasaray have not been as active in the market as some of their competitors, with Lesley Ugochukwu reportedly their only arrival so far, having joined on loan.
Uzun, however, remains a priority for the club after months of interest in the young midfielder.
There are signs that negotiations with Frankfurt have advanced, but the German side’s financial demands remain a stumbling block.
Frankfurt are reportedly looking for about €60m for Uzun. Galatasaray are attempting to bring the figure down and could reportedly offer €35m initially, with an additional €5m available through bonuses.
If the Turkish champions can reach an agreement, Uzun would add another attacking dimension to a squad built around Osimhen.
The prospect of the 20-year-old supplying the Nigeria international has already generated considerable interest as Galatasaray continue their efforts to complete the transfer.
