The picture for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup is becoming clearer, with 18 of the 32 available spots already taken ahead of the tournament in Brazil.
Qualification is still underway in several regions, but five confederations have now confirmed teams that will feature at next year’s global women’s football showpiece.
Africa secures four spots
Four African nations have made it through the qualification process so far — Algeria, Cameroon, Malawi and Morocco.
Their progress gives Africa a strong representation at the tournament and adds to the continent’s growing influence in women’s football.
Six Asian teams qualify
All six places allocated to Asia have been filled.
Australia, China, Japan, North Korea, the Philippines and South Korea will fly the flag for the Asian Football Confederation in Brazil.
The Philippines’ qualification is another important step for a side that has steadily increased its presence in international women’s football.
Four European nations confirmed
Denmark, France, Germany and Spain are the four European teams currently guaranteed a place at the World Cup.
However, the European qualification race is still open, with seven more tickets yet to be claimed.
France, Germany and Spain bring considerable experience on the international stage, while Denmark will be hoping to make a strong impression when the competition begins.
New Zealand takes Oceania’s spot
New Zealand has claimed Oceania’s only direct qualification place.
The Football Ferns will therefore represent the region as they return to the biggest stage in women’s international football.
Three South American nations qualify
South America has also confirmed three representatives: Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
As hosts, Brazil automatically secured their place, while Argentina and Colombia earned qualification through the continent’s qualifying campaign.
Brazil will now turn its attention to preparations for a tournament expected to attract some of the finest women’s teams from around the globe.
14 places still available
With 18 nations already qualified, 14 places remain up for grabs.
Europe still has seven slots to determine, while CONCACAF has four direct qualification places. The final three spots will be decided through the inter-confederation play-offs.
For the remaining contenders, the pressure will continue to build as qualification reaches its decisive stages.
The 2027 tournament is expected to feature a blend of established football powers, rising nations and teams seeking to make history, with Brazil preparing to host what could be another major milestone for the women’s game.
