Hamburg Eye Super Eagles Striker Moffi

Hamburg have entered the race for Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi as the Nigerian appears set to leave French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice before the summer transfer window closes.

German publication Hamburger Abendblatt revealed that the Bundesliga newcomers are considering the 27-year-old as they search for a reliable goalscorer to strengthen their squad. The forward is expected to make a final call on his next club within the next few days.

Signs point to the end of Moffi’s spell at Nice after he was removed from the club’s first-team plans. The Nigerian has been working away from the main group and was overlooked for the club’s pre-season meeting with Juventus, further suggesting an exit is on the cards.

His current deal runs out next summer, leaving Nice with a decision to cash in now instead of risking his departure on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Fresh from securing a return to Germany’s top flight, Hamburg are eager to add proven talent to their attack as they prepare for the challenges of Bundesliga football.

Moffi officially became a Nice player in 2023 after first joining the club on loan from Lorient. Since then, he has contributed 24 goals and five assists in 72 outings across all competitions.

Even though injuries interrupted his progress, the Nigerian forward has maintained a reputation as a dangerous attacker thanks to his strength, quick movement and ability to convert chances.

The former Kauno Žalgiris and Riteriai player built his reputation in Europe before enjoying productive spells at Belgian side Kortrijk and French club Lorient, performances that eventually earned him a move to Nice.

The Super Eagles striker, who has represented Nigeria 23 times, also spent the second half of last season with Portuguese champions Porto, playing his part in their league triumph before returning to his parent club at the end of the campaign.
