Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations have gathered momentum, with only six invited players still expected to join the Super Falcons’ training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that 19 of the 25 invited players had already reported to camp by Sunday. Head coach Justine Madugu supervised another training session at the La Noria Club, where 15 players took part as the team continued its build-up to the tournament.
The squad was strengthened on Sunday by the arrival of BK Häcken teammates Halimatu Ayinde and Joy Omewa. Meanwhile, Pachuca Tuzas defender Osinachi Ohale and striker Chinwendu Ihezuo were travelling to Morocco to link up with the rest of the team.
Among those already training are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Sikiratu Isah and Christy Ucheibe. Midfielders Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini have also settled into camp, alongside forwards Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Omorinsola Babajide. Goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko are equally available for selection.
The players still expected are Michelle Alozie, Deborah Abiodun, Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Uchenna Kanu.
With the majority of the squad now together, the nine-time African champions have stepped up their preparations ahead of their Group B opener against Malawi on July 28, as they target another successful campaign in their quest to retain the continental title.
