Akor Adams has joined the growing list of football stars applauding Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese captain delivered a statement performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles striker shared a photo of himself alongside Ronaldo on social media following Portugal’s convincing win over Uzbekistan, where the veteran forward scored twice to inspire his side.
Ronaldo had come under pressure after Portugal were held to a draw by DR Congo in their opening match, with critics questioning whether the 41-year-old could still make a significant impact on the biggest stage. However, the Al-Nassr star quickly silenced the doubts, producing a match-winning display and celebrating with a memorable gesture that signalled his return to form.
The connection between Adams and Ronaldo dates back to an international friendly between Nigeria and Portugal before the World Cup. Although the Portuguese side emerged victorious, the encounter saw both players share a respectful moment after the game despite several exchanges during the contest.
While Adams clearly holds Ronaldo in high regard, the Nigerian attacker has previously stated that his football idol is Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazario. He once described the former Brazil striker as the player who inspired him the most and his personal choice for the greatest footballer ever.
Portugal’s progress at the World Cup has now been secured, with Ronaldo playing a key role in the team’s qualification for the knockout stage. Argentina have also advanced, thanks largely to Lionel Messi’s impressive goalscoring form in the tournament.
