Ikorodu witnessed a lively football atmosphere on Saturday as the Spires 5-a-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament reached its climax at Deeonis Football Courts in Ota-Ona.

The grand finale drew a large turnout of fans and football enthusiasts, with Orion and Leon Football Club delivering a commanding performance to defeat New Generation FC 7–0 and successfully defend their Ikorodu crown.

Under Coach Biyi Adesonya, the champions earned N500,000 for their triumph, while the second-placed New Generation FC received N300,000. Diamond Football Club, who finished in third place, were awarded N100,000.

Samuel Emmanuel of Orion and Leon FC distinguished himself in the competition, finishing as the highest goal scorer and claiming a N50,000 prize for his efforts. All three top finishers have secured qualification to represent Ikorodu Division at the state finals in October.

Tournament organiser Dr Bankole Allibay described the Ikorodu edition as a success, adding that future editions across other divisions would be further improved.

He congratulated the leading teams and expressed confidence in their performance ahead of the state championship.

The competition now shifts to Epe, where the next divisional stage of the Spires 5-a-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026.
