The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has intensified efforts to protect its Omotosho Power Plant and Sapele Power Plant following the conclusion of the second phase of its 2026 Insurance Risk Engineering Survey. The company described the exercise as a key step in reinforcing operational reliability, safeguarding critical assets, and minimizing risks across its power generation operations.

The survey, conducted in partnership with international insurance experts, aimed to ensure that NDPHC’s plants adhere to global safety and risk management standards. It included in-depth evaluations of plant equipment, operational procedures, maintenance routines, and environmental risk factors. The initiative is designed to enhance plant performance while reducing both operational and financial vulnerabilities.

At a post-survey review, Omololu Agoro, Executive Director of Finance and Accounts, praised the survey team and plant staff for their dedication and collaboration. He emphasized that regular risk assessments are vital for protecting investments and ensuring that power generation operations remain sustainable and aligned with international best practices.

Agoro added that findings from the survey would feed into NDPHC’s continuous improvement framework. The insights would help optimize maintenance schedules, improve plant availability, and strengthen the company’s insurance coverage. He noted that these evaluations are critical for identifying potential weaknesses and implementing measures that boost the reliability and efficiency of the plants.

The Insurance Risk Engineering Survey is part of a broader initiative covering NDPHC’s generation facilities nationwide under the National Integrated Power Project. The company reiterated that continuous cooperation with global technical partners is central to its strategy of delivering dependable electricity while preserving the value of its investments for stakeholders in Nigeria’s power sector.

The feedback session also included a farewell ceremony for Mike Corbett of Zurich Insurance Group, who is retiring after 13 years of service supporting NDPHC’s risk management efforts. Colleagues praised his technical skills, professionalism, and contributions to strengthening the company’s risk engineering culture.

Corbett’s guidance in multiple risk assessments across NDPHC plants has enhanced compliance with international insurance standards and reinforced confidence among stakeholders and insurers. His work has been instrumental in ensuring that the company maintains high safety and operational standards while protecting its assets.

Through these measures, NDPHC demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining secure, efficient, and reliable power generation. By leveraging local expertise and international collaboration, the company aims to protect its assets, mitigate risks, and provide sustainable value for Nigeria’s energy sector. This approach reflects NDPHC’s ongoing dedication to excellence and resilience in its operations.
