FG Introduces Sales of Mandatory E-tags at Airports

The sale of E-tags, which allow access to all 24 of Nigeria’s federal airports, has been announced by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. The sale is scheduled to start at this time, May 17. This news was made on Friday by the FAAN via its X account.

According to information obtained by PUNCH, the FEC approved 21 policies and projects on Monday and Tuesday intended to stimulate the economy, encourage investment, and make doing business in the nation easier.

The FEC authorized a rule requiring all users of federal airports nationwide to pay tolls at the gates before gaining admission, without exception. Everyone will be subject to this policy, even the president and vice president.

A recent Federal Executive Council meeting approved a presidential directive that requires all users of federal airports nationwide to pay tolls at the gates, which is in line with the FAAN public announcement about the sale of E-tags.

This is happening amid hardship brought on by the naira’s floating and the elimination of subsidies.

The Nigeria Labour Congress was compelled by this hardship to ask for an increase in the minimum wage, a request that is currently upsetting the government.

In a statement, FAAN stated that drivers without E-tags could pay cash at the entrance gates to gain entry to the airport; otherwise, they would be unable to do so.

The locations and phone numbers for getting E-tags at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja were also included in the statement.

The announcement reads, “At Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, the public can obtain E-tags at the Office of the Head of Department of Commercial Operations, Terminal 1, 5th floor, or by calling 08033713796 or 08023546030.

“At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, E-tags can be obtained at the HOD Commercial Office at the General Aviation Terminal, or by calling 08034633527 or 08137561615.”
