In a brief ceremony held before the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, President Bola Tinubu swore in two new commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC). Hon. Fasuwa Johnson from Ogun State and Hon. Amidu Raheem from Osun State took the oath of allegiance, marking their formal induction into the commission.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Kassim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, cabinet ministers, and other government functionaries.
This development follows a two-day NPC management retreat held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, last week. As the principal data mining commission in Nigeria, the NPC plays a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and publishing data about the country’s population and economy.
The swearing-in of the new commissioners marks a significant milestone in the commission’s efforts to enhance data collection and analysis, ultimately contributing to informed decision-making and national development.
