The Asaba Development Union Worldwide (ADUWW) has been thrown into deep mourning following the announcement of the death of its Secretary-General, Ogbueshi Anthony “Tony” Molokwu, a distinguished engineer, respected community leader, and one of the Union’s most dedicated members. He passed away on 12 November 2025, a loss that has cast a heavy cloud of sorrow over the Asaba community at home and abroad.

According to a statement released by the leadership of ADU Worldwide, Tony Molokwu served the Union with “remarkable loyalty, uncommon commitment and a heart fully devoted to the progress of his people.” The statement described his departure as “a painful loss to the entire Asaba family and to everyone who benefitted from his wisdom, humility and unwavering service.”
Tony Molokwu, fondly known simply as “Tony,” hailed from a long line of notable Asaba ancestry. He was born into the family of the late Ogbueshi Frederick Madugu C. Molokwu of Idumugbe Village in Umuonaje, Asaba, and the late Mrs. Beatrice N. Molokwu (née Nwalupue) of Eze-Afadia in Umuaji, Asaba. He was also a great-great-grandson of Obi Diali, the revered third Asagba of Asaba — a lineage that shaped his deep sense of identity, heritage, and duty.

From his youth, Tony demonstrated a remarkable commitment to community and spiritual growth. He was an active member of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (C-Y-O-N) during his early years, when the writer served as Youth Chaplain between 1994 and 2001. In the Ilorin Diocese, Tony was a blessing to his peers, always supportive, dependable, and engaged — qualities that would continue to define him throughout his life.
A seasoned Civil/Structural Engineer, Molokwu built a reputable career marked by excellence, discipline, and an unrelenting pursuit of professional growth. After obtaining his engineering qualification, he went on to attend several academic and professional courses across Nigeria and beyond, strengthening his expertise and reinforcing his reputation as a consultant of high integrity.

He served as the Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of MOLAN CONSULTANTS, an established engineering consultancy and project management firm. He was also the Managing Director and CEO of TONBEE CONNECTIONS LTD, further cementing his influence in the engineering and business sectors.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tony was widely admired for his active involvement in community development. He was a longstanding and vibrant member of the Asaba Development Union, where he not only contributed ideas but also led impactful initiatives. As Chairman of the ADU Project Committee, he supervised and supported projects designed to strengthen the welfare and progress of the Asaba community. His colleagues describe him as a man who never hesitated to give his time, knowledge, and resources whenever the Union called upon him.
In their statement, the ADUWW expressed heartfelt prayers for God’s comfort upon the Molokwu family, asking that they be granted the strength to bear the weight of this loss. Members also offered solemn prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul: “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.”
As tributes continue to pour in from Asaba sons and daughters across the world, one thing remains clear: Ogbueshi Tony Molokwu leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, devotion, and a lifelong commitment to nurturing others that will stand for generations to come.
