Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been honoured by the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH) for his remarkable efforts in enhancing digital participation, communication innovation, and technology-led governance.

In a statement released on Tuesday, organisers confirmed that Governor Sanwo-Olu was officially appointed as the Grand Patron of the Bodex Social Media Hangout Initiative. The honour precedes the sixth edition of the annual event, themed “Social Media and AI Influence: Transforming Yourself, Services, and the Society.”

A delegation from the BSMH, led by Convener Bodex Hungbo, paid a courtesy visit to the governor at the Lagos State Government House to present the recognition. Hungbo commended Sanwo-Olu for his forward-looking policies and unwavering commitment to digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and media development within the state.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s progressive approach to technology and his active engagement with citizens online have established Lagos as a pioneer in digital governance and civic innovation on the African continent,” Hungbo said. She noted that his administration’s openness and support for tech-driven communication continue to promote transparency and strengthen public confidence.

Accepting the honour, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to the organisers and praised the Bodex Social Media Hangout for its consistent advocacy for responsible media practices and constructive online engagement. He described the initiative as a platform that encourages dialogue among creators, professionals, and innovators on how best to harness technology for social advancement.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding digital education and promoting innovation, especially among young people. He emphasized that Lagos State would continue investing in technological infrastructure and programs that empower citizens, foster creativity, and enhance governance efficiency.

As part of the activities marking BSMH 6.0, Governor Sanwo-Olu is expected to deliver the keynote address at the event’s Grand Finale, where he will also be presented with the “Most Digital Media Friendly Governor of the Year” award. The recognition highlights his leadership in using digital tools to deepen citizen engagement, enhance government transparency, and promote inclusive participation.

Now in its sixth year, the Bodex Social Media Hangout has evolved into a prominent forum bringing together digital professionals, innovators, influencers, and communication strategists to discuss emerging trends in technology and the media. The initiative also focuses on the responsible use of social platforms, the influence of artificial intelligence, and their impact on business, governance, and society.

Through this recognition, the organisers acknowledged Governor Sanwo-Olu’s role in fostering a vibrant digital culture and encouraging collaboration between government, media, and citizens. The award reinforces his reputation as a leader committed to leveraging technology for progress, transparency, and inclusive growth in Lagos State.
