Delta Air Lines has announced the deployment of its next-generation Airbus A350-900 and A330-900neo aircraft on the Lagos,Atlanta route, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing travel comfort and capacity between Nigeria and the United States. The airline revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday.
According to the statement, Delta will operate a combination of the A350-900 and A330-900neo on the Lagos,Atlanta service through late November. Beginning in early December, all flights on the route will transition exclusively to the A350-900, Delta’s flagship long-haul aircraft. The upgraded operations are expected to continue throughout the winter season, a period that typically records a surge in both passenger travel and cargo demand due to the holidays.
Mary Gbobaniyi, Delta Air Lines’ Manager of Sales for West Africa, highlighted that the introduction of these aircraft underscores the airline’s dedication to providing a superior customer experience. “Both the A350-900 and A330-900neo represent Delta’s latest generation of widebody jets, featuring the airline’s signature four-cabin configuration: Delta One® Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main Cabin,” she explained.
She noted that each cabin is designed to offer enhanced privacy, space, and personalized service, ensuring passengers enjoy a more comfortable and refined flight experience. “Deploying our A350 and A330-900neo on the Lagos,Atlanta route for the winter season enables Delta to meet growing customer demand while delivering a premium experience our travelers will love,” Gbobaniyi said.
The move also reflects Delta’s efforts to increase both seat and cargo capacity during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. “The added seat capacity and cargo capability are essential during this period when families reconnect and trade activity intensifies between Nigeria and the United States,” she added.
Gbobaniyi further emphasized the technological advancements of the Airbus A350-900, describing it as one of the most sophisticated aircraft in Delta’s fleet. The jet is designed specifically for long-haul operations, offering greater seating capacity, ambient lighting, and quieter cabins that help reduce passenger fatigue on extended journeys.
In addition to comfort, the aircraft delivers improved fuel efficiency and expanded cargo space, making it well-suited for meeting both passenger and freight needs during the high-demand winter season.
Delta’s statement also highlighted the premium onboard experience available across its cabins. Passengers flying in Delta One® can enjoy lie-flat seats, chef-curated meals paired with Taittinger champagne, and luxury amenity kits designed by Missoni. Delta Premium Select offers wider seats with deeper recline and enhanced amenities, while Delta Comfort+ provides extra legroom, early boarding, and dedicated overhead storage.
