PDP Will Bounce Back, Defectors Will Return — South-South Vice Chairman Emmanuel Ogidi

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-South, Emmanuel Ogidi, has expressed confidence that governors and other key members who recently defected from the party will soon return.

Speaking on Arise Television on Wednesday, Ogidi maintained that the PDP remains an organised and resilient political party capable of resolving its internal challenges despite the current wave of defections.

Dismissing speculations about alleged plans to disrupt the party’s forthcoming national convention, he said the PDP’s structures remain firmly in control of the process.

“There was a group planning to disrupt the convention when they met in Abuja and issued some conditions. But PDP is an organised party, for God’s sake. You can’t just come out and call yourself stakeholders,” Ogidi stated.

He emphasized that both the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC)were fully in charge of the preparations for the convention, which is scheduled to hold in November.

Ogidi also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of “weaponising hunger” to lure some individuals away from the PDP.

“We all know why they are going, but we strongly believe they’ll come back,” he said confidently.

According to him, some party members, including governors and senators, have been impatient regarding the timing of the convention.

“Some of these governors and senators don’t have patience. The convention is just a few weeks away. Why assume it won’t hold? Yes, we’re in court, but that’s no reason to panic. If you’ve done the right thing, the court will give you justice,” he explained.

Ogidi assured party members that due process was being followed and expressed optimism that the PDP national convention would hold as planned, reaffirming the party’s unity and determination to reclaim its strength ahead of future elections.
