Over ₦30 million has been earmarked as prize money for the 2025 Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic, which will feature 30 of Nigeria’s top professionals alongside invited golfers from other African countries.

The tournament is scheduled to run from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28, in Lagos.

Golf Manager of Lakowe Lakes Golf Estate, Femi Olagbenro, explained that this year’s championship will highlight the estate’s dedication to staging international-standard competitions.

“The 2025 Classic, tagged The Emerald Invitational, emphasizes our resolve to host world-class golf tournaments and position the estate as a center for the sport’s growth. We look forward to welcoming the country’s finest golfers to compete at the highest level,” Olagbenro said.

Play will be spread across the Par 3 course and the Par 72 Championship course. Amateurs and guest participants will also have the unique chance to compete alongside professionals in the latter rounds.

The event is part of the Escape to the Green festival—Lakowe’s annual blend of sport, hospitality, and entertainment—which has become a major highlight on its yearly calendar.

Coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence celebrations, this year’s festival promises a lively mix of music, culture, and leisure activities. The schedule begins on Friday, September 26, with Verse and Vibes Night featuring spoken word and live music, followed by the Poolside Pulse Party with DJ Nana.

The Owambe Royale Emerald Gala takes center stage on Saturday, September 27, highlighting African flair with acts from Johnny Drille, Folagade Banks, Layi Wasabi, IBQUAKE, OB Nelson, Serenade Jazz Band, and Lilian Yeri Dance World, with Kie Kie as host.

Guests will also enjoy curated side attractions including pontoon cruises, sip-and-paint sessions, candle-making and pottery workshops, caricature sketching, archery, and tennis.

“We are excited to be hosting this event during Independence weekend and invite both golf fans and entertainment lovers to experience the very best of Lakowe Lakes,” Olagbenro added.
