The Lagos State Police Command has placed restrictions on the ongoing Egungun masquerade festival, limiting all activities to approved venues and designated masquerade outing points.

According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the move is aimed at ensuring public safety, protecting property, and preventing religious or cultural clashes.

“All Egungun festival activities must be confined to designated areas. Street processions and public marches are prohibited,” the statement read.

The decision follows recent incidents involving property damage and clashes between rival masquerade groups across the state.
