Boniface Calls Europe Boring

Victor Boniface, the striker for Bayer Leverkusen, has expressed interest in playing for a Nigerian club, revealing his wish to escape the dull routine of European football.

Boniface shared this during the latest episode of The Culture League Podcast—a series he launched alongside Super Eagles colleagues Wilfred Ndidi and Raphael Onyedika.

Hosted by well-known video jockey and TV personality Adams Adebola, popularly known as VJ Adams, the trio explored various aspects of their personal lives and realities.

When asked about his ideal club if given the freedom to choose anywhere, Boniface mentioned a preference for Lagos, highlighting the now-defunct MFM FC as a potential destination.

“I will play for MFM in Lagos,” Boniface said.

The 24-year-old added that his decision would largely hinge on his wish to stay near his roots.

“If Nigeria is like a six-hour drive to Germany, I would stay here and drive every morning to train and play in Germany. Europe is boring,” he added.

When questioned about what he misses most about home, the forward replied, “The food. Not just the food, life close to family, friends, you understand.”

Recently, Boniface quashed rumors about his future by confirming his commitment to the 2023 German Bundesliga champions.

In a conversation with German media outlet Sport Bild, Boniface reiterated his determination to remain at Leverkusen despite circulating reports regarding his playing time and interest from other European teams.

Leverkusen is set to face Hoffenheim in their opening match of the season on August 23.
