A man has been brought before the court and is accused of killing 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin in a London sword attack. According to Sky News, Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a Brazilian-Spanish national, lives in Newham, east London, and has been accused of a number of offenses.

The police revealed these accusations on Wednesday. They include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of severe bodily injury, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article. On Tuesday, four persons were hurt, two of them were Metropolitan Police officers.

After appearing before Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, 36-year-old Monzo was remanded in custody this morning. Unless a hearing can be set on Friday, the defendant was ordered to stay in custody until his planned appearance in the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Daniel Anjorin attended the same private school in Woodford Green as Bancroft, the same school Grace O’Malley-Kumar, the victim of a knife assault in Nottingham, attended.

Daniel was “a wonderful child,” “well-loved,” and “hard-working,” according to his family, who told Sky News that his passing “leaves a gaping wound in the family.”

They said, “No family should have to go through what we are experiencing.

“Any family will understand it’s an absolute tragedy.”

A friend of Daniel’s brother set up a fundraising page on Wednesday, and it has already raised £25,000, according to a BBC story. Daniel’s passing has reignited conversations over the persistent problem of knife crime in the UK, especially in London.
