World record-holder Tobi Amusan is officially slated to compete in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 50th Prefontaine Classic, scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the iconic Hayward Field in Oregon, USA, according to The PUNCH.
The renowned competition, which forms part of the prestigious Wanda Diamond League circuit, will showcase some of the world’s finest track athletes. Among the most eagerly awaited races is the women’s sprint hurdles, featuring Amusan, reigning Olympic champion Masai Russell of the USA, and global leader Jasmine Camacho-Quinn from Puerto Rico.
For Amusan, stepping back onto Hayward Field’s track is more than just another race—it’s a return to the venue where she made history. At the 2022 World Championships, she shattered the world record in the 100m hurdles with a jaw-dropping 12.12s, securing her place in athletics history.
That groundbreaking feat elevated her to international stardom and firmly established her as the dominant figure in women’s sprint hurdling.
Now 28, Amusan has displayed remarkable consistency this season as she gears up for the upcoming World Athletics Championships. She recently claimed her second seasonal win in Ostrava with a 12.45s run and placed second in the previous Siamond League stop in Paris, clocking a season-best 12.24s.
Russell, one of Amusan’s fiercest contenders, will also be racing on familiar ground in Eugene. The American sprinter clocked 12.33s to capture Olympic gold last year and recently ran a blistering 12.17s to set a new national record—ranking her second only to Amusan in the all-time standings. Notably, three of her career-best times have come at this same stadium.
Adding more intensity to the competition is Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. The Puerto Rican star boasts Olympic gold from Tokyo, a bronze from Paris, and a lifetime best of 12.26s.
Ranked world number one in the event, Camacho-Quinn has remained a constant podium contender at major championships, consistently pushing the limits of the discipline.
With three of the world’s most formidable hurdlers lined up, the women’s 100m hurdles is widely tipped to be one of the standout events at the meet.
