Dalot Confident in United’s Progress Despite Forest Defeat

Diogo Dalot remains optimistic about Manchester United’s progress under Ruben Amorim, despite their dismal Premier League season continuing with a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Amorim’s side controlled possession throughout the match at the City Ground on Tuesday, yet struggled to break down a resilient Forest team. The only goal of the game came from former United player Anthony Elanga, whose brilliant solo effort sealed the win for the hosts. With just eight matches left in the season, United find themselves in a disappointing 13th place.

Another loss would see them match their worst-ever Premier League defeat tally in a single season—a record set under Erik ten Hag during the 2023/24 campaign.

Despite United’s dominance in attack, registering 23 shots without scoring, Dalot remains hopeful about the team’s progress under Amorim’s system.

“Our determination reflects how much we want to change things and improve our position, especially in the league,” he told MUTV.

“If we aim to be competitive in the future, we must continue playing with this level of commitment. Over time, the results will follow, but first, we need to establish this mindset if we want to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

He continued, “We may still face challenges, but in terms of improving and moving forward, I believe we are heading in the right direction.”

United will now turn their attention to Sunday’s Manchester derby before traveling to France for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Lyon next week.
