The Federal Government has announced Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo encouraged all Muslims to embrace the core values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He stressed the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a harmonious society.

A statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, further highlighted Tunji-Ojo’s call for Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation. The Minister expressed hope that the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr would inspire unity and cooperation across all religious and ethnic groups.

Tunji-Ojo also urged citizens to celebrate the holiday in a safe and responsible manner, while remembering the less fortunate through acts of kindness and charity, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.

On behalf of the government, he extended heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all.
