NAF Strikes Boko Haram Hideouts in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported significant damage to Boko Haram’s operations following a precision airstrike targeting insurgent hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa, Borno State. The airstrike, conducted on March 16, 2025, was based on credible intelligence and surveillance reports, which identified key locations within the rugged Mandara Mountains where terrorist leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters were reportedly gathering.

According to a statement from the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, surveillance confirmed the presence of a fortified command center in the area, which was equipped with solar-powered installations. This led to the decision for a surprise night operation aimed at neutralizing the terrorists’ stronghold.

The statement reads: “In a precise demonstration of air power and advanced night warfare capabilities, the NAF carried out a successful airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa. The operation targeted insurgent bases deep within the Mandara Mountains, severely disrupting their activities and inflicting significant damage on the terrorists.”

Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed terrorist activity at a key gathering point in Degbewa, which led to the launch of a precise strike under the cover of darkness. The NAF destroyed vital logistics and command structures, sparking large fires and neutralizing numerous terrorists.

Ali emphasized that this operation highlights the NAF’s growing dominance in both day and night air operations. He added, “This successful night mission proves that insurgents can no longer operate under the cover of darkness. The NAF remains committed to using its formidable air power to dismantle terrorist networks and bring lasting peace to the region.”
