Sadiku Ruth Olubunmi,  39-year-old female banker, has been arrested by the Lagos Police for allegedly stealing ₦116 million from customers accounts.

According to reports, Olubunmi, who worked with Seedwest Limited on Balogun Street, Lagos Island, was accused of forging documentsincluding a letterhead of Towade Global Business Ventures,using the signature of Mrs Adelakun Funke to withdraw ₦15 million, she also diverted ₦101 million received from customers for personal use.

The alleged fraud was discovered after customers complained to the management of Seedwest Limited, leading to an internal review and a report to the police.

After an  investigation by Inspector Pius Ndegbe and his team, Olubunmi was arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a four-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence, forgery, and stealing.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of ₦2 million with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to January 22, 2024, for mention and until her bail conditions are met, Olubunmi will be held at the Ikoyi Correctional Center.
