Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has led a delegation to Maiduguri to sympathize with the government and people of Borno State over the devastating flood incident that affected over two million people.
During the visit, Governor Bago announced a donation of ₦250 million to support the flood victims. He described the situation as “devastating and worrisome,” emphasizing the need for collective support from well-meaning Nigerians.
“We stand with the people of Borno State in this difficult time,” Governor Bago said. “I urge you to remain strong and keep faith in Allah. We will not hesitate to deploy health workers for medical assistance when needed.”
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, expressed gratitude for the gesture, assuring that the funds would be judiciously utilized to support the affected communities.
Governor Zulum commended Governor Bago’s developmental strides, noting that he has strengthened the relationship between the two states.
The Niger State delegation, comprising members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, and traditional leaders, also visited the Shehu of Borno’s palace to offer condolences and seek royal blessings.
Special prayers were offered for the victims, seeking divine intervention for healing, recovery, and prevention of future disasters.
